Carriers World Awards Recognizes GlobeNet for Supporting Latin American Economy
Our Internet Exchange in Fortaleza, Brazil, wins Best Platform category for providing vital digitalization support throughout Brazil and Latin America.
We are proud to announce that our Fortaleza Internet Exchange (IX) has won the Best Platform/CPaaS Award at Carriers World Awards 2019. Proclaimed on the evening of September 11, in a vibrant ceremony in London, UK, the awards celebrate innovation and achievement across the industry. Based on over 28,000 votes cast by members of the wider telecommunications landscape, the Carriers World Awards offers unique insight into the projects that the industry perceives as the most influential on a global scale.
“Home to the region’s largest internet service providers, our Fortaleza facility has become the second most important IX in Brazil, thanks to our partnership with NIC.br, the Brazilian Network Information Center,” says Eduardo Falzoni, CEO of GlobeNet. “We undertook this project, which we completed just one year ago, to meet surging demand for local traffic exchange in northeastern Brazil from regional and international service providers, network operators and enterprises. As the world increasingly leverages emerging technologies like the Internet of Things, 5G and edge computing, ultra low latency and local network interconnections are becoming more important than ever. We’re thrilled our peers in the carrier community see how our Fortaleza IX acts as a pillar of support for increased digitalization throughout Brazil and Latin America at large.”
GlobeNet continues to shape the future of telecommunications in the Americas through continued enhancements both to its infrastructure and service offerings. In fact, GlobeNet’s new Malbec subsea cable will bring Argentina fully into our subsea network. This will give content providers, cloud providers and a host of other businesses with unparalleled capacity and speeds for their unique goals.
