Defending against DDoS attacks in Latin America

Security is a hot button issue internationally. During recent months, Brazil supplanted the United States as the top target of DDoS attacks with 25% compared to 23% in the U.S. In addition to this, there was a 151% increase in Brazilian infrastructure layer 3 & 4 attacks in Q2 2016 compared with Q2 2015. Online gaming seems to be the main industry targeted by these attacks, but software, technology, financial services, media and entertainment, internet and telecommunications are among the other industries victimized by the recent DDoS attacks. This data clearly indicates that DDoS attacks are becoming more prevalent throughout Latin America as these industries continue to grow.
Globenet is conducting the final tests of a security solution that monitors customer traffic and will offer immediate mitigation when an attack occurs. This new OPEX-based solution is designed to offer Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and large international carriers peace-of-mind with 24/7 protection of their traffic and network without a heavy investment in deploying their own solution for their network.
This DDoS mitigation solution will complement Globenet’s IP Transit offering and allow all ISPs in Latin America to take advantage of GlobeNet’s international network that offers the lowest latency to reach the main Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) in the United States. GlobeNet’s new DDoS solution will offer zero oversubscription and the highest level of security available to protect customer traffic.
